Our Teammates don’t just pour their hearts into their work; they pour their passion into serving each other and our communities — especially in times of great need.

In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina and neighboring states, our Teammates and Company immediately sprang into action to help those impacted – including our own – rebuild their lives. From providing food and water, hygiene kits and baby essentials to helping with cleanup and financial needs, our One Team did what it does best – serve others.

Caring for Our Communities and Our Own
Our Response Team of trained volunteers headed to the hardest hit areas as soon as local officials gave the go-ahead. The team removed downed trees, cleared dangerous debris, set up food pantries, and provided hot meals for our impacted Teammates, residents and hungry volunteers.

With no power or water in some areas, the team set up a shower trailer, as well as a washing machine and dryer for Teammates and their families. Community members could also access the internet at our Coke Consolidated Skyland facility.

“The leadership team locally and throughout the company really showed up to help in this time of need,” said Tony Nunley, Senior Manager, Rapid Response at Coca-Cola Consolidated.

The Coca-Cola Consolidated Response Team was created to serve our Teammates, their families and community members in times of natural disasters and other major setbacks.

In partnership with several nonprofit organizations, our recovery support efforts continued through the critical weeks following the unprecedented storm. Teammates across our 14-state territory participated in various volunteer relief efforts, including eight company-organized packing events in Charlotte and Monroe, North Carolina; Erlanger, Kentucky; La Vergne, Tennessee; Whitestown, Indiana; and Sandston, Virginia. These packing events resulted in the creation of nearly 6,000 hygiene and care kits, which will be distributed by Convoy of Hope, a faith-based, humanitarian-relief nonprofit.

Additionally, more than 200 Charlotte Teammates packed 10,000 emergency food boxes for Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, while our people in Boone, North Carolina, assisted Samaritan’s Purse with debris cleanup and more for local residents.

“At the core of our culture is our Purpose – including a focus on serving others,” said Dave Katz, President and COO of Coca-Cola Consolidated. “It guides us in everything we do: taking care of one another, taking care of our consumers and customers, and taking care of the communities where we live, work, and play.  When we work together as one team, we can achieve so much.”

Coca-Cola Consolidated also donated more than 30,000 cases of product, essential relief and substantial financial resources in the region, including more than $2 million to community organizations supporting relief efforts in impacted areas, $1 million to the American Red Cross, and $250,000 to Second Harvest.

“We prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of our Teammates and our customers,” said Dave. “When a crisis occurs that impacts them, we roll up our sleeves and get to work through our Rapid Response Team. We take care of each other and help in any way possible in times of hardship.”

Coke Consolidated and The Coca-Cola Company provided immediate disaster relief funds to impacted Teammates. Over 330 of our employees applied and received this immediate disaster relief support.

We also set up the Coca-Cola Consolidated Teammate Support Fund for impacted Teammates to apply for up to $5,000 in financial assistance. The community of Coca-Cola bottlers have generously contributed to the fund.

Guided by Our Purpose
At the center of everything we do is our Purpose, which is to honor God in all we do, serve others, pursue excellence and grow profitably. Our Purpose has been our guide as we assist in bringing a sense of comfort and normalcy back to the lives of our Teammates and residents devastated by Hurricane Helene. Our recovery support relief will continue as we work with trusted partners and alliances to assist with the basic long-term needs of those affected.

We’re keeping every Teammate, partner and customer impacted by Hurricane Helene in our thoughts and prayers.
